When is Chinese New Year

The approaching year 2010 will be celebrated as Chinese New Year 2010 and Chinese New Year 2010 celebrate on 14th February.


The tiger year is well known as Chinese New Year 2010. The upcoming year is the ji-chou year. "Jji" is the sixth of the Ten heavenly Stems and yin is the third of the Twelve planetary Branches and states the year of the Tiger.
Chinese New Year is denoted by an animal. Chinese New Year, also identified as the Chinese Lunar New Year or the Chinese Spring celebration, is one of the customary Chinese holidays. The Chinese new year is celebrated in late January to early February. Chinese New Year begins on a New Moon and complete with the lantern fair on the full moon 15 days later.

One more exciting thing about Chinese New Year is that only few people know when this holiday is famous without looking at a customary Chinese calendar because it never come on the same day. The very old Chinese used a lunar calendar. Chinese New year is always distinguished on the first day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, which comes on the day of the second new moon behind the day on which the winter solstice come, unless there is an intercalary eleventh or twelfth month in the lead-up to the New Year. In that case, the Chinese New Year falls on the day of the third new moon after the solstice.



Chinese new year celebration is as well the time when the biggest human migration takes place when Chinese all around the world return home on Chinese New Year eve to have gathering dinner with their family.
