The holiday celebrates for economic and social achievements of the workers. The Canadian labour movement can fairly claim the title of inventor of Labour Day. Traditionally, Labour Day was an occasion to movement for and celebrates workers right during parades and picnic arranged by trade unions.
 
The Canadian Labour Day was originally celebrated in the spring of 1894. Labor Day is also held on the same day in the United States of America. Canadian trade unions have to proud that this holiday was motivated by their efforts to progress workers's rights.

These silent plays a role in Labour Day for some Canadians, but many people see the first Monday in September as an opportunity to take a late summer trip, perhaps to their country lodge, or enjoy the company of family or friends at picnics, fairs, festivals and fireworks displays. The Labour Day is also the last chance for teenagers and students to celebrate the party and go on the trip before school re-opens for the new academic year.
