Ganesh Chaturthi is the birthday of Lord Ganesha is celebrated in India with great devotion and faith. It is also well-known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. The festival falls on the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi. Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvati has the elephant-headed is broadly worshipped as the supreme god of knowledge, success and good luck.

The 11-day festival start with the installation of beautifully clay figures of the Ganesha idols in homes and mandaps, colourfully decorated, depicting religious themes or current events. The Ganesh idols are worshipped with families and associates. Many cultural events are organised and people contribute in them with devoted interest. After ten excite days comes the time to bid farewell to the beloved God. The most important part of this festival are the last days of this occasion when the idols of Lord Ganesha is immersed in the ocean.
