Festivals in Mexico

Mexico is a large country that covers many different festivals, and many exclusive cultural flavors. Mexico has so many special holidays and regional festivals, Mexican celebrations throughout the country and year.

Festival of Mexico is the biggest cultural celebration. The colors and the melody in these celebrations is spectacular, and of course, delicious comida food is forever present. There are plenty of festivals throughout the country dedicated to a particular kind of food, and several festivals dedicated to local arts and crafts. Mexico also hosts one of the biggest performing arts festivals in Latin America, the Cervantino Festival.

Mexico's Best Festivals & Celebrations

New year day 1st January

A popular festival celebrated with best: food, fireworks, and dancing. As is the custom in other Latin America countries, 12 grapes are eaten at midnight. Each grape show a month of the upcoming year, and persons make a wish with each grape eaten.

Days of the Dead October

People all over the country celebrate Los Das de los Muertos. The most stylish celebrations occur in the villages around Patzcuaro and in the valley of Oaxaca. People head out to the graveyard for all-night vigils and sing and pray for the souls of the dearly dead.

Carnaval

Mexico has two chiefly notable celebrations. Festivities in Veracruz pack the 3 days before Ash Wednesday, with marvelous floats, dancing in the plaza, and live entertainment.

La Fiesta de los Locos

In San Miguel de Allende, a town recognized for celebrations, this one is the most fun for visitors. Young and old similar dress in monstrous costumes and parade around the middle of town, or in dressed-up carts, to musical accessory.

Night of the Radishes

Unique in the country, December 23 in Oaxaca is when the Oaxaquenos construct extraordinary sculptures out of radishes flowers, and dried cornhusks. They go on show on the zocalo. On December 24, each Oaxacan church organizes a parade with music, floats, and crowds bearing candles.
