Thanksgiving Vacation

Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the year as people head home to family. Many people enjoy this long weekends by going on vacation to far off places as Thanksgiving vacation presents the perfect opportunity to satisfy their wanderlust. Thanksgiving holidays are a reason for families and a tradition also to get together for a large meal.

This often consists of a turkey, stuffing, different types of potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy and maize and other seasonal vegetables. The meal also often includes pumpkin pie. Many of these foods are native to the Americas and were not available in Europe at the time of the first settlers.

Thanksgiving Holidays Weekend

In some cities and towns, parades are held on Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving holidays are a way of opening the Christmas shopping season. A lot of football games are played and watching them is a popular activity. As many people have a four-day weekend, Thanksgiving holiday is a popular time for making trips, particularly to see out-of-town friends and family. Nearly all Government offices, businesses, schools and other organizations are closed on Thanksgiving Day as it is a national holiday.

Thanksgiving in the US is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, and is a big occasion for family get-togethers, people fly home that weekend to be with their families. Thanksgiving in the US also marks the start of the "Holiday Season" that continues to New Year's and Christmas decorations, for example, people go to Disney World for Thanksgiving weekend, and many resorts that stage an appearance by Santa as part of their Thanksgiving weekend festivities. At many family resorts, Thanksgiving weekend includes not only the traditional feast but also a "Light Up" night, where holiday lights go bright; appearances by Santa; and special family activities. New England, West Virginia, Arizona are also good options for enjoying thanksgiving weekends.
