Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi has celebrated as a seasonal festival in the Punjab and being closely attached with harvesting, the festival used to be traditionally celebrated as the harbinger of happiness and plenty.
 
Some anthropologists are of the outlook that to area off spiteful spirits ruinous to the harvest, a ritual dance used to go before the Vaisakhi festivities in olden times. And Bhangra also the form of world famous Punjabi dance, has said to have evolved from this ritual dancing. The Baisakhi usually falls on 13th April every year.It is the day of birth day of Guru Gobind Sing, the tenth Guru of Sikh civilizations. The people go to gurudwaras with their family, friends and relative to pray for them and their family they also prepare delicious food on the Vaisakhi festival. On this day, they also organized bhangra, gidda and enjoy with great enthusiast.

Baisakhi Mela

The Baisakhi mela is one of the best ways to celebrate Baisakhi festival. It is the aspects of most vibrant and colorful Baisakhi celebrations. In Punjab and Haryana, Baisakhi has observed mainly on a great scale among the farmer community. The Baisakhi mela is coming with full of colors and one can finds entertainment and laughter through all corners. People have come with their family and friends to participate in mela (fair) from far off places.

Most enthralling characteristics of Baisakhi mela are bhangra and gidda performances. Other activities that enchant people are races, wrestling bouts, singing and acrobatics. Presentation of folk instruments, such as vanjli and algoza is also pretty popular. There are numerous stalls selling bangles, toys, local handicrafts and other trinkets of domestic use add more colors in this fair. Food stalls are also a key crowd-puller in a Baisakhi Mela.
