President's Day

President's Day, is also known as Washington's Birthday, and falls on the third Monday of February in every year. This year, President's Day falls on Monday, February 17, 2014. The Washington's Birthday, widely known as President Day in the USA in order to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States of America.

It was first implemented by an Act of Congress in 1880 for all Government offices in the District of Columbia. In 1885, it was declared as a Federal holiday by declaring a national holiday in all Federal offices. This year, President's Day falls on Monday, February 17, 2014.

The actual Birthday of Washington is on February 22 but in 1971, the federal holiday was shifted to the third Monday of February as per the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. President's Day was earlier known as "Washington Day" and "Washington and Lincoln" Day by some corporate and autonomous bodies.

In Virginia, it is known as "George Washington Day". This is a Day is observed as a federal holiday in Massachusetts by their state Government.
